MIKE HERON-THE GLEN ROW TAPES (New Quadrant Records release)
In 1977, Mike Heron, formerly of The Incredible String Band and Heron, was still living in the Glen Row Scottish cottage, which had been the Incredible String Bands home and musical headquarters. He recorded a lot of songs between 1977 and 1978, using the home studio located in Glen Row with help from Frank Usher on guitar who had also played with Mike on Heron and Jon Bavin, the session engineer, on bass and keyboards along with a variety of local drummers.
New ISB at the Beeb double CD in the pipeline!
To let you all know that Hux Records has been working with Mike and Robin (and Malcolm!) to put together a new double CD of ISB at the BBC. The first CD is a reissue of the In Concert CD, with unreleased session tracks as bonus recordings. The second CD is almost all sessions. In making selections for this album, we prioritised unreleased material or substantial reworkings, as well as material which has become available in studio quality since the last BBC sessions compilation, On Air, was released in 1991. There are 13 previously unreleased recordings.
Adrian Whittaker has done the liner notes in consultation with Mike, Robin and Malcolm, and there’ll also be a full sessionography, lyrics to unreleased songs etc.
The CDs should be out some time in April – you should be able to pre-order them via the Hux website within the next few days. They won’t be in the shops till some weeks after that date because of the time needed by the distributors.

Clive Palmer
Clive's gets recognition amidst the greats
Taken from the Elton John and Bernie Taupin article in the Times 15-09-2006..."One
of the most
underrated albums of recent years is All Roads Lead to Land (2004) by
the Incredible String Band alumnus Clive Palmer. Far from being a
hindrance — the record has a sonic resemblance to an old-timer
trapped
in his own potting shed with nothing but a banjo and three sizeable
tomato plants for sustenance — this is precisely what lends this
album
its peculiar appeal. On Baby Sing the Blues and You Were Meant for Me
Palmer sounds like a man vainly attempting to prove Johnny Thunders
wrong when he sang: "You can't put your arms around a memory.""
"All Roads Lead to Land" recorded and produced by Lawson Dando at Albanystudios.
